What Palin Does

1. Steps on the story of Obama's speech (and convention), and possibly the bounce coming from them, and wipes them off the news cycle. The Sunday news shows will be all-Palin, all of the time.
2. Sends Republicans into their convention on a huge head of steam.
3. Wipes out the image of McCain as the crotchety elder and brings back that of the fly-boy and gambler, which is much more appealing, and the genuine person.
4. Revs up the base AND excites independents, which no one else in the party, or perhaps in the world, could have accomplished.
5. Puts youth, change, and history on both of the tickets.

Almost every woman in America recognizes Sarah Palin as a fellow woman with broad shoulders, mother, working gal, loving wife, etc.
Her biggest appeal is that there is a sense of that immediate recognition.

I hope the Secret Service has a safe ring around her 24/7 because this image is what attracts assassins.

14. Counter-intuitively, makes the issue of Obama's light resume more potent than ever. Her lack of experience is no more than his is. And he's--to use a term from Alaska, and the Iditarod--their lead dog. I guess Bin Biden needs to take some mushing lessons from Todd.

The appeal is shes real. Not a prop in a suit. And I'm betting that her campaign speeches have substance and not just a bunch of high rhetoric.

Sarah Palin better be tough as nails because she is going to be savaged by the national press like no one since Clarance Thomas. Even on day one we saw some unbelievable attacks on this woman from the usual places.
She has put fear into the left that is hard for us to fathom and they are going to resort to the lowest and vilest tactics to bring her down.
It’s going to be up to us to talk to our friends and neighbors who are going to want to like this woman and help to shape the public opinion about her.

Sarah Palin does indeed bring a breath of fresh air to an otherwise unpleasant political scene. It has been fun watching the libs try to come to grips with this rapidly changing politscape. But, really, it doesn't matter what her background is, if they win you still get McCain as president. Forget having a border. Get used to “Se habla Espanol aqui”. Say hello to crossing the aisle. Yawn. Sarah is great. I'll vote for her when she's the one heading the ticket.

The attack rules do not apply to a popular woman. Any vicious attacks will backfire.

From what I’ve seen so far, it looks as if she’s up to the task. She seems to be plenty tough.

I guess Bin Biden needs to take some mushing lessons from Todd. I know very little about Todd Palin but I can say without a doubt that even he is more qualified to be president than Obama.
