The images of her with the AR-15 appear to be a training simulator, not an actual firearm.

She took on her own party's corrupt political culture directly while Obama was sucking up to Wright and Ayers and being just another get-along Chicago machine pol (see his campaign's thuggish attempt to throttle Stanley Kurtz and Milt Rosenberg on WGN the other night). Excellent contrast!

Next to her resume, a guy who's done nothing but serve in the phony-baloney job of "community organizer" and write multiple autobiographies looks like just another creepily self-absorbed lifelong member of the full-time political class that infests every advanced democracy. That is the best line of the month. The first paragraph pretty much sums up my thoughts.

Its good to see him back. Sarah Palin reminds me of the old true and trite adage: "Something beats nothing. Every time." The Democrats are running an empty suit with no real accomplishments. Both halves of the Republican ticket have lived a full life and have people who can vouch for what they've done. We're going to be hearing a lot of that next week. Whereas Obama wasn't in control of his convention, McCain will run his and it will have a unifying, thematic message. If it advances conservatism, the election will be over and the Democrats know it. Denver produced a series of misses and some singles but Minneapolis can be one grand slam after another. The first four nights next week are going to be worth looking ahead to.

Two homeruns. John McCain hits it out of the park picking Palin to be his VP and Steyn clears the bases telling us why she is such a great choice.
McCain is one of the reasons I had lost most of my enthusiasm for politics, but he has done much to redeem himself with his first Executive decision. Well done, John!

Good point. I would also note that Gov. Palin has a son who will soon be in Iraq; Sen McCain has on there now. With kids on the line, I trust their judgement to make decisons to deploy our troops more than Obama. To be fair, I do believe I read that Sen. Biden has a son in or on his way to Iraq. But given his repeated gaffes, and liberal politics, I’m not a fan...

Well I watched a video of her firing off a short burst in full auto. It has been posted around and looks like a video made by a military camera, like when she visited a base or maybe in Iraq.

Yes, from a full-auto training simulator. No magazine, no muzzle flash, light recoil, no noise requiring hearing protection.

... Mr. Palin looks like a nice guy, but one that can take care of business. I understand he's part Eskimo. I'm not too sure which part, but it's probably the part that would throw a harpoon up your butt.
