I'd heard the term "ZZ top." I assumed it was some 70's drug band.
Never heard the term "Texas Triplets" until your post to me.

I stopped paying attention to music & groups in about 68.
As a participant in the South East Asia War Games My concerns then were much more basic than entertainment. By the time I got back to "the world," the music had died in a drug induced stupor.

Someone posted something about Micheal Stipe on a thread. I had no idea who he was, until someone reminded me of REM. I can’t think of any REM songs that stand the test of time. But the eliminator album is as good now as ever.
