Last night, Barack Obamas exit music at the close of his historic Democratic convention acceptance speech was Only in America, a song by countrys foremost multiplatinum duo.

"John Rich sent an angry text message to Kix Brooks last night, saying why did Kix allow that song to be used? And Kix said I had nothing to do with it that was their right. I sent John a text message today saying If you enjoyed last night, youre gonna love Kixs version of Ba-Rock My World, Little Country Girl (taking off on another Brooks & Dunn hit)."

Article is very interesting.
Obama is stealing Brooks and Dunn's song!
They're Republicans!
"its hard to imagine the Ronnie Dunn I interviewed four years ago having been okay with it if John Kerry had wanted to use Only in America. (Kix Brooks, by contrast, has always been more recalcitrant about getting into his political views.) Of all the Republican country stars I spoke with in Nashville, Dunn came off as the most intelligent and informedvery nearly a foreign policy wonk"

they most likely gave permission. If not, they can make a stink.

Laura Ingraham had me rolling this morning when she described the looks on the Dems’ faces when the country music played. They were equally perplexed when the American flags were handed out.

They didn’t give permission.. it sounds like Kix Brooks heard it after it played.. and didn’t care.
Whats interesting is that McCain is also using Brooks and Dunn music.
I find it annoying because I like that song “Only in America” and don’t think it should be played at Commie Festivals.

I didn’t see it mentioned in the article, but this morning Palin and McCain came out to “Right Here Right Now” by Van Halen.
Well, several hours later I was in my car and heard on a news break that Van Halen sent out a press release saying that they did not give McCain permission.

Turnaround is fair play...McCain has used alot of songs from artists who didn’t like it. Jackson Browne for one and just today there was another. WHO CARES really?

Does this mean I need to get Eddie's permission every time I want to play one of his songs when I have friends over? WOW, this is beyond the RIAA big time Eddie, you little pansy-ass.

I haven’t picked up my guitar in a couple of years... but I could still play 316 from the “for unlawful carnal knowledge” cd. that’s my only eddie song. maybe i should play it in honor of this crap?

I don’t think they need permission. They pay for the rights to use the catalogs of the two major music licensers—ASCAP and BMI, and pick whatever song they like. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
