Most conservatives did not think that the selection of Palin was truly under consideration, but we have all been pleasantly surprised. Perhaps surprised understates our emotions. How about shocked, awed, inspired, and thrilled! It simply doesnt get any better than the 44 year old Palin. If conservatives were caught off guard, you may rest assured that the Democrats were even more blown away and in spite of last nights Obama euphoria, they will lose considerable sleep tonight.
Look at this! Palin is all of:
· A Devout Christian
· Pro-Life & Traditional Family Values
· Fiscal Conservative
· Tax-Cutter
· Business Executive Experience
· Energy Expert & Oil Industry Savvy
· Peace Through Strength Philosophy
· Gubernatorial Experience
· Lifetime Member of the NRA
Her great looks, classy image, poise, grit, and speaking skills will establish her as a dynamo on the campaign trail. It just doesnt get any better than this! I am almost as excited as I was organizing rallies for Reagan during the 1980s.
This was a hard fight for a high stakes appointment, with much blogging, e-mailing, and lobbying behind the scenes. Its time to unite, heal the wounds, and defeat the humanist-secularist-socialist-enivironmentalwacko-pacifist-extremist-religionists and further the cause of LIFE, LIBERTY, & TRUTH!

Palin compared to Reagan? I'll take Palin - she has a rock solid understanding of why she is a conservative.
There are two flaws in your thinking. People can only for Presidential candidates, not Vice Presidential candidates. VP running mates are so strictly because the latter has agreed to accept most of the former's positions on most issues.

For awhile I was a believer that thought experience was the required mandate, now I have seen the light, I fully back Sarah even more than I thought after seeing her public personna in the harsh light of heavy duty politics.
I saw Sarah in a role perfectly suited for her and I am saying this also because I am well aware of her because I happen to live in Wasilla Alaska since 1994, good luck Sarah! hoorah!

“That’s true if you exclude the facts he has sponsored bills with flaming socialists Kennedy, Lieberman and Feingold to grant amnesty to illegal aliens, support the fallacy of human induced global warming and restrict free speech not to mention opposing drilling for oil in ANWR as do the socialist Democrats. “
He is pro military, pro-life, pro-marriage and for lower taxes.
He isn’t 100% Conservative, but he is Conservative on several issues and Liberal on others. Doesn’t make him a Socialist.
What I am getting tired of is this “if you are 99% Conservative you are a Socialist” nonsense. If you are going to call someone a Socialist, use the term correctly.

McCain is very imperfect.
That understatement is about the biggest line of spin one could say about McCain's socialist tendencies.
But he will give us good SCOTUS nominees
I suggest you give that line of reasoning more thought. He will be facing a socialist Democrat controlled Congress, many of which he has voted with on several key issues and still agrees. Expecting him to oppose his socialist bretheren by providing conservative nominees with this scenario is stretching credibility.

He isn't even close as his history indicates.

Video1 Video2 ( I do not endorse all of the information presented in video1 here. The video does touch on a number of topics, and I think most are germane ) If I could have found video that contained most of this information without touching on McCain's POW experience I would have posted it instead. Still, there are parts of McCain's POW experience that are troubling. I'd just rather not go there. Video2 shows how one MIA family rep is treated, confirming some of the reports in Video1.
1994/07/24 McCain joins with the Democrats to confirm nominee Stephen Breyer to be an Associate Justice on the SCOTUS. Nine Senators voted Nay...
1997/00/00 McCain leads the opposition to the Coats Amendment, preventing government funded fetal tissue research ( derived from "a legal act" [abortion] ) Amendment defeated!

2008/03/24 McCain hires Meg Whiteman to cochair his Presidential campaign. Whiteman is another wishy washy at best Independent, who has donated to leftist candidates and still doesn't have a clue what side to come down on with regard to illegal immigration. She is leaning toward running for Governor in California and being courted by it's Republican leadership. Links to CalCowGirl's comments regarding Whiteman's donations. Article above.

By all means let's keep incrementally changing conservatism to the point where it includes everyone including the Hillary supporters who are actively supporting McCain.

Another poor ploy to deflect from McCain's destructive appeasement of the socialist left over the years. As I have been stating in various ways throughout this thread that you either refuse to or can't grasp, I hope both he and his fellow socialist Obama go down in flames.

So are you voting Obama, voting for someone else who has no chance of winning anything, or staying home? What I’m asking is, WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MAKE THIS A MORE CONSERVATIVE COUNTRY? Because holding your breath till you turn blue doesn’t work for your kids (unless you’re a very bad parent), and it won’t work here.

“1988/02/11 McCain votes to affirm Anthony Kennedy as a justice for the SCOTUS”
Who nominated the LIBERAL Kennedy for SCOTUS? You don’t have to answer.
McCain is the reason why Senator’s shouldn’t be Presidents. Their job is to create laws. Some are good. Many are bad. While McCain isn’t an ideologue,( neither was Romney, nor Huckabee, nor Thompson) he does have some values that Conservatives support. If he was in every way Conservative except for being pro-gay marriage, someone here would be calling him a Socialist.

Thank you Laura. Laura is not threatened by Mrs.Palin. Both of these women are made of substance while the dems are made of ether. Laura is grateful for McCain thinking enough of this country to go for substance, who happens to be easy on the eye. Should that be a disqualifier in the eyes of anyone but the dems?

A quote from Ronald Reagan addressing a CPAC convention in 1975:
"A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency or simply to swell its numbers."
That is precisely what the GOP leaders, including McCain, have been doing for decades and the GOP grassroots have been following them like lemmings to the sea.

This was a hard fight for a high stakes appointment, with much blogging, e-mailing, and lobbying behind the scenes As I predicted a while ago the talk show hosts on our side would try to make them relevant by telling us that they forced McCain to pick a conservative running mate when McCain has always wanted to pick a conservative running mate like Palin. These talk show hosts are super legend in their own minds and the minds of their choir. Really pathetic.
