Obama Backs Away From Campaigns Statement On Palin

PITTSBURGH, PA -- Obama reacted to his rival's pick of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as a running mate and walked back a statement put out by his campaign that called the governor inexperienced.

"I haven't met her before. She seems like a compelling person, obviously a terrific story, personal story. And you know, I'm sure that she will help make the case for the Republicans,"

"I congratulate her and look forward to a vigorous debate," he said.

Obama and Biden released a joint written statement earlier congratulating Palin, saying she was "an admirable person and will add a compelling new voice to this campaign.”

But a campaign also issued a statement that called into question her experience. "Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," wrote spokesman Bill Burton. "Gov. Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies -- that's not the change we need, it's just more of the same."

Obama appeared to dismiss Burton's statement. "I think that ... campaigns start getting these, uh uh, hair triggers, and the statement that Joe and I put out reflects our sentiments," Obama said When asked about the contradiction in the tone of the two statements.

Let’s be honest here - Hillary was VP for 8 years under Clinton. Gore was the recycling manager and campaign finance manager.

I want a VP who shows up every day in the Senate. Someone who reminds the princes who is actually in charge. I hope Sarah is that President of the Senate.

Obama caught scraping the doody off his shoe that he stepped in while trying to put out the bag of flaming dog poop McCain dropped onto his front porch.

I’ll take her over and Ayer’s-loving, Alinsky-breathing, Clinton-labeled Chicago Thug, “community organizer”, any damn day.

Yep. Especially since McCain was so gracious (to gracious IMHO) in the ad he ran congratulating Obama.

Ohio is going red, as I predicted last election but for entirely different reasons (Feds crawling all over the state for corruption).

PA and WV will eat her right up - she will remind everyone of their daughters, sisters, and wives. Hell, she reminds me of my sister-in-law in WV.

EVERYBODY UNDER THE BUS!

With his initial negative reaction and subsequent reversal, even obama threw himself under the bus.

I am watching both O’Reilly and Hannity and I am furious with the timidity and stupdity with which GOP operatives, including Kemp, are handling this ‘heartbeat from the presidency’ attack.

all that needs to be said - Palin is more experienced than BO to be Commander in Chief. Period. Tell the MSM to shut the Hell up and go pound sand. BO couldn’t even manage a Burger King.

Mort Kondrake actually said earlier that BO was qualified to be President on the basis of running for President and making good campaign decisions. Sheesh.

Obambi did introduce Biden as the next President, uh vice president.

They know that they are debate toast.

Actually heard some idiot say that she can’t be qualified because she’s never been on Meet the Press.
