The only thing I can see is that it takes away the argument that Obama is lightly experienced, but by picking Biden, Obama took away the "judgment" issue, at least if you measure judgment by "didn't vote for the Iraq War" argument.
I like this, an older person and a younger person on each ticket, a white guy and a politically underrepresented minority on each ticket. Now, the race can be about ideology, and not purely about identity politics.

This won’t be a problem if the campaign takes the TRUTH and properly frames it as a positive message.
* The ticket is in the right order — the experienced guy is at the TOP. The Donkees’ ticket is inverted, with the noob at the top and the old fart at the bottom.
* McCain has been criticised on the age issue. She adds youth and vigor to the ticket.
* She and Obama have about the same number of *years* of experience — but Gov. Palin’s experience is in an EXECUTIVE job, not a bloviating senate position.
And so forth.
We can add to your observations, a representative of our non-lower-48 states in each campaign.
A funny little quirk about this race, is that McCain named his first daughter Sidney, and BHO’s mother was named Sidney.
