Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign on Friday blasted his Republican rival's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as a running-mate, highlighting her "zero" foreign policy experience.
"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.
Burton also criticized Palin as a vice presidential pick for her support of oil drilling in the Alaskan wilderness and her anti-abortion stance, referring to the 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal in the United States.
"Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies. That's not the change we need, it's just more of the same," he said.
The choice of Palin was seen as a bold effort by McCain to attract disgruntled Democratic and independent supporters of Senator Hillary Clinton, who was defeated by Obama in the race to be the Democratic Party's presidential nominee.
Palin, a telegenic conservative, has led the oil-producing northwestern US state since December 2006 and was the first woman and youngest person to hold that state's top job.

The Obamanidiots just keep on giving, and giving, and giving. LOL! The train wreck has begun.
Thats pretty weak so he insulted small towns, slammed her for the exact same weakness he has, failed to mention that she is the governor and, therefore, has more executive experience than the entire Dem ticket, chastised her for not killing her own baby, criticized her for turning her state into a surplus, and is far more versed on energy than any other governor in the country wow hes pretty brilliant at this politics stuff
Stop it ya’ll. I remembered that Obama was a community organizer one time. Thats gotta be like a cub scout pack leader or something. Give him a break!
The BO campaigners are either lying to you or they think you’re stupid or they are stupid to use this line of attack.
Of course, you'll be hearing it from people who would have no problem with that heartbeat belonging to an ex-community organizer with ties to terrorists, scam artists, and radical preachers.
Utter, complete, total panic from the Obama camp.
They know they’re in deep trouble now, between Palin’s solid-gold whistleblower/reformer credentials and Obama’s own Ayers problem.
I’m gonna make popcorn tonight and watch the meltdown. (And I’m on a low-carb diet!)
Let’s wait and see if Sarah is able to distinguish between the Sunnis and Shiites in Iraq, unlike her running mate. Senator Obama visited the Middle East while in college, and learned from his experience unlike Republicans who still support continuation of the killing in Iraq.
“Obama campaign highlights Palin’s ‘zero’ experience”
And on the subject of ‘zero experience’, the Obama campaign is very experienced.
Palin started her political career in a small town, Obama started his in the house of a domestic terrorist.
This comment by BO’s campaign shows two major points. One, they are very worried and reacted w/ out thinking. Two, they ignored her experience as governor, even though it is her current job. That shows they know that is a killer for them.
One of her overlooked qualifications on foreign policy is that her state BORDERS ON RUSSIA.
You think she ever got calls at 3:00 a.m that Russian bombers were probing and the Alaskan national Guard had to scramble fighters?
The closest Obama got to a commie bomb thrower was when he nuzzled up to one at a swank cocktail party.
And 0dumbo’s foreign policy experience? Would that be telling David Cameron how he needs to take a vacation? Or would that be the big 0bama( ZERO)policy meetings he convened he when became steward of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee’s Subcommittee on European Affairs.
Obama, foreign policy experience? Hahahaha.
If that @$$munch Hussein Obama doesn’t know the difference between the Top of the ticket and the second-in-command then he shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the White House. Gov Palin could spend the next 2 months giving Barry man lessons and come November she’d still out nut him with one hand tied behind her back.
If you want to continue to support losers like Barr. Go right ahead.. By the way Palin has more executive experience over Barr.
It's all downhill for the Obama campaign from now on.
I was always less bothered by Obama’s lack of experience than his dangerous Marxist philosophy. Palin is running for the number two spot, not POTUS. This issue is irrelevant to me.
and his moon god....
What was Obama doing while Palin was WORKING??
