Women are not fungible.
I dont know if anyone sitting around with John McCain in the last few days has explained that to him; frankly, I dont know if there even were any women sitting around with John McCain in the last few days. But, I think I understand a few things about Hillarys base in the Democratic party, and why so many women have been so loyal to her, and if John McCain thinks that simply picking another person with similar anatomy is going to win their votes, hes about to learn a very important lesson in gender politics.
Nothing again Sarah Palin. To be honest, I dont know her. She is a newcomer to the national scene, new enough to make Barack Obama look like an old-timer.

I’m already sooooo tired of people assuming that Palin was picked only because she’s a woman.
The catfight is interesting to watch.
Can't wait to see Camille Paglia's take.
(The Politico) DAYTON _ Sen. Charles Schumer is among the first out of the gates with Democratic reaction to the Sarah Palin selection.
“After the great success of the Democratic convention, the choice of Sarah Palin is surely a Hail Mary pass,” Schumer said. “It is a real role of the dice and shows how John McCain, Karl Rove et al realize what a strong position the Obama-Biden team and Democrats in general are in in this election.”
Schumer’s “roll of the dice” comment might come back to bite him _ that’s exactly the phrase Bill Clinton used against Obama during the primary season.
But Schumer rails on: “Certainly the choice of Palin puts to rest any argument about inexperience on the Democratic team and while Palin is a fine person, her lack of experience makes the thought of her assuming the presidency troubling. I particularly look forward to the Biden-Palin debate in Missouri.
Now, now Susan dear. Take a Midol and rest for a bit.
More sniping from one of the press’s more prominent losers.
Was Estrich falling down drunk again? Estrich always seems to get to eat excrement sandwiches on FNC at big political moments and I miss the show.
All the sour grapes about Ms. Palin expressed today by the lefties can be summarized thusly: “Methinks they doth protest too much.”
Especially Ms. Estrich, who ran the campaign of that great American, Michael Stanley Dukakis.
Man, the Democrats are scared to death! Estrich, Begala, Schumer all screeching their displeasure within hours.
From watching the Dem reaction to Palin’s selection so far, I can only deduce that McCain hit a home run here.
Contrast:
Conservative reaction to obama picking biden as VP - largely amused.
Liberal reaction to McCain picking Palin as VP - largely angry.
I’m getting tired of pundits comparing her to Obama. She is NOT running for President or against Obama. She is running for VP.

Its going to be a very interesting campaign. I must say that several months ago I said that it would be great if there was a woman on the ticket that I felt that John McCain would have to pick someone, especially if Hillary was the nominee. But without Hillary being the nominee its really quite equally as important because people are looking for a smart campaign and I think this might do it.
There are a lot of women who are disaffected by how Hillary was treated by the media, by how she was treated by the Obama campaign, by how she was treated by the Democratic National Committee [Democratic party chairman] Howard Dean not speaking up when sexism raised its ugly head in the media. Theyll be looking to see what happens now.

Thank goodness for that.
End of story.
Well there’s a load of sour grapes.
And as for this...
“What woman above a certain age women in their prime, I call them has not been there and done that, could not identify with the woman who was fighting for a job she was more than qualified for, only to be demeaned for her clothes and her cackle and her cleavage, only to be mocked for her ambition even as a guy with far less experience was applauded for his.”
Well, I’m nearly 48, I don’t remember ever fighting for a job that I was qualified for that I lost simply because I was a woman.
Stop yer whining Susan. Sarah is better even without the looks. And she wore a dress!!!!
