1) first Republican woman selected to run as VP instantly makes this a “historic” ticket
2) secures and energizes the base
3) offers Hillary voters the opportunity to vote for a woman
4) executive experience (plus Governor of a Western state is a plus with many Western states in play this election)
5) great on oil/gas/energy
6) excellent speaking skills
7) conservatives can visualize her as future president
8) very “family values”
9) will attract some union voters who normally vote straight Dem ticket
10) stregthens McCain’s “reform” message Did I miss anything?

No you missed just about everything. Your points one by one.
1) BFD This is of little importance to true conservatives
2) I'm part of the so called "base" and I don't feel secure about this decision.
3) Hillary voters are left wing hacks who will hold there noses and vote for the Socialist Candidate.
4) The electoral votes are in the big states not the western states (excluding California which the Republicans will NEVER win again under any circumstances) (Texas also)
5)Ok you got me on that one.
6) Never heard her speak
7) Conservatives who are 15% of voting public, and will be less as time goes on.
8) Just what is a "family value". Will someone please define this? I hear this vague term all the time and I don't know what it means.
9) Not very many
10) Reform, what reform is McLame offering?
Yes you MISSED a great deal. What about the selection of a unknown woman who has very little experience with big time rough and tumble politics. She is from a small state(population) which is completely different from most if not all of the lower 48. It would be like taking a pitcher from the most minor of the minor leagues and put them in Game 7 of the World Series. The Democrats will pound on this theme don't you know. Califelephant, don't you know that the Republican party is as dead as a doornail in CA and can NEVER be revived. Do you want to kill the Republican Party Nationally? I repeat for all you knuckle draggers. You are 15% of the Voting Population. Most people don't think as you do. This is why you lose elections. The VP pick should overwhelmingly be picked for the person who could step in for the president if God forbid something should happen to the president.

Nope. They can't pound Palin's lack of experience without spotlighting the fact that zerObama has even LESS executive experience.

They can no more attack Palin on this than Panamanian born McCain can question the circumstances of Obama's (Kenyan?) birth.

Romney is experienced, but is lacking in character. Palin has proven character, something the others in this race lack. Hopefully, she can be Margaret Thatcher 2.0. This is a brilliant political move by McCain, peeling off some of those disgruntled Hillary supporters who vote their genitalia, while shoring up the conservative base.

Pound on what theme? She's got more experience running things than anyone on either side of the ticket. Joe Biden's state has about the same population, and fraction of the size and complexity, and Joe's never even run it. He represents Delaware by talking, chairing committees, and talking about how the committee session went. Amazing qualification, there, although to his credit he's done it for 35 years longer than the guy at the top of the ticket.

Are you sure you're on the right website? This is an interesting selection of vocabulary for a life long conservapublican whatever you said you were.

The VP pick should overwhelmingly be picked for the person who could step in for the president if God forbid something should happen to the president.

Joe Biden? Barack Obama?

Palin's head is screwed on straight, she's got the right views. What *really* is Plugs Biden is razor sharp spring loaded to do that she's not? Senators *do not have executive experience*. You can laugh at the fact that she was a mayor or a governor, but that's 100% more applicable to being President than being a professional committe member.
