I think picking Palin will be played as pandering to the depressed hillary crowd, although being from Alaska she could bring the drilling/anwr fight to the forefront

It seems that the “troopergate” scandal is still a very active investigation. Taped phone calls, which only came to light two weeks ago, suggest that Palin played an active role in attempting to fire Wooten after Wooten’s bitter divorce from Palin’s sister.
An official who refused to participate in the firing attempt was subsequently fired himself.
Here’s hoping that McCain’s staff actually vetted all these allegations.
