Transcript: Al Gore's speech at Invesco Field
CNN ^ | 8/28/08 | Algore

Al Gore: One of the greatest gifts of our democracy is the opportunity it offers us every four years to change course.

It's not a guarantee; it's only an opportunity.

The question facing us, simply put, is will we seize this opportunity for change?

That's why I came here tonight: to tell you why I feel so strongly that we must seize this opportunity to elect Barack Obama president of the United States of America.

Eight years ago, some said there was not much difference between the nominees of the two major parties and it didn't really matter who became president. Our nation was enjoying peace and prosperity, and some assumed we would continue both, no matter the outcome.

But here we all are in 2008, and I doubt anyone would argue now that election didn't matter.

Take it from me, if it had ended differently, we would not be bogged down in Iraq; we would have pursued bin Laden until we captured him.

That’s about 32 seconds more than I could. My TV is way too expensive for me to risk watching either Algore or Obamalamadingdong on it.

BS, you fat sack of excrement! You used Iraq when it was convenient to you, and you and your impeached rapist boss had OBL offered to you THREE TIMES and you did nothing. The voices of the dead condemn you. Hope those airline campaign donations can buy you a decent night's sleep, ManBearPig...

I believe this election is close today mainly because the forces of the status quo are desperately afraid of the change Barack Obama represents.

If "the forces of the status quo" mean people who actually want America to survive and thrive, then I agree with every word of this statement.

There is no better example than the climate crisis. As I have said for many years throughout this land, we're borrowing money from China to buy oil from the Persian Gulf to burn it in ways that destroy the future of human civilization. Every bit of that has to change.

Again, I agree with Al. Let's burn our own oil.

Oil company profits, as you know, have soared to record levels,

Tax receipt profits have soared to even higher levels. At least the oil companies allow me to run my car for a few days in return for my money. If the oil companies did what the government does and took my money and filled up someone else's car and I got to watch them laughing at me as they drove away, I think I'd hate them as much as Al does.

and gasoline prices have gone through the roof,

So lower taxes on gasoline. You're one of the people who has demanded high gas prices as a way to save the planet, you bloated hypocrite.

and we are more dependent than ever on dirty and dangerous fossil fuels.

Then build more nuclear power plants, you jackass.

Many scientists predict -- shockingly -- that the entire North Polar ice cap may be completely gone during summer months during the first term of the next president.

Of course, the same "scientists" predicted that for this summer, and the darned Arctic wouldn't cooperate.

Sea levels are rising;

Total lie.

fires are raging;

Signing the Kyoto treaty would apparently have changed the laws of chemistry to prevent fires from "raging." Who knew?

storms are stronger.

Another lie.

Military experts warn us our national security is threatened by massive waves of climate refugees destabilizing countries around the world,

Military "experts" who all seem to be employed by environmental and leftist think tanks.

and scientists tell us the very web of life is endangered by unprecedented extinctions.

Cause, y'know, no species ever went extinct before the SUV.

Again, what a jackass.

Decent speech, well delivered.

We'll see how much it influences opinion in the next couple of days.

I must say that Obama-Biden is a better looking couple than the previous Dem running mates. If he must be subservient at least Joe looks like a gentleman's gentleman. In 2004 Edwards looked like Ned Nederlander (Martin Short's character in The Three Amigos) to Kerry's Lurch.

To: Thank You Rush

You know, I think the only person that can actually watch something like that and not go insane AND YET, parse each sentence and decipher what is really being said is Rush!

I really don’t know how he does it. Watch yourself Rush, not kidding here.

"the opportunity it offers us every four years to change course"

The opportunity to change course? Hmmm...like we did when you lost your many recounts and we finally changed course away from the Clinton/Gore crime spree? Al, I would love to see us change course once again back to the conservatism and common sense of Ronald Reagan, back to an America who defends her borders and her laws against illegal immigration, toward an America who values and defends the Constitutional rights of private property (Kelo is a Constitutional crime!) and Freedom of speech (NO "fairness" doctrine, end McCain Feingold!) and opens American oil fields to Americans who are sick and tired of prostrating ourselves before our enemies for their oil. And, of course, challenges and ultimately puts to rest Global Warming for the junk science hysteria it is. What an opportunity for change! I hope for our present and our future that we can make such changes our reality in the next four years.

I surfed in during a commercial break from another channel, saw algore, heard algore compare BHO to Lincoln, switched back.

Democrats want change, I’d be glad for a little reality, these people are nuts!

Gore: “...we would have pursued bin Laden until we captured him.”

Yeah, right, just because the Goracle’s in the White House, the Paki’s are going to let our guys into North Wazhiristan.

For crying out loud, those Clinton/Gore clowns couldn’t even pursue bin Laden when the Saudi’s offered us his head on a platter.

What a macaroon.

I was having dinner with my aunt and cousin, and afterward they decided to turn on the "Greenhouse Gasbag" to listen to his speech. 2 minutes in and my "bull-sh*t-o-meter" was pegged. I couldn't stand it, and had to leave. Of course, they ate it up.
