Bit of a older tidbit that explains why the MitBots hate Cantor so much (From February 12, 2008):

Did Eric Cantor Save John McCain?

All the Virginia congressional districts went as predicted, and all of them where easy to predict. There was one swing district . . . the 7th, which is a very conservative district centered around the Richmond suburbs, old conservative territory of Tom Bliley that has produced conservatives like Jim Gilmore and Bill Bolling. Bolling was a big backer of Mitt Romney, and in 2000 broke for George W. Bush by over 23,000 votes over McCain, the same year Cantor was running for the first time (its also depressing to see how high the turnout was then vs. now). But last week Eric Cantor endorsed John McCain, and it seems so with it broke the 7th for the Arizona senator, clinching his Virginia victory.

Obama has set the VP bar so very low with Biden. Any sober, honest person will look good by comparison.

I dont agree that Gen Patraeus is up for the job, but McCain should stay away from anyone connected with the status quo. For example, Rice, Powell, Ridge, etc. He needs to run his campaign as a new environment. Choosing an existing “Bushie” will just get him tagged with “4 more years of Bush.” Sad but true.

Dont Agree should be “don’t disagree.”

If we loose this one, how would you feel about a Cantor/Palin ticket in 2012? It’d give both of them another 4 years to “mature” and gain more experience.

I think I’d crawl over broken glass to pull *that* lever.

I hate to say it, but McCain’s VP choice will determine whether or not he gets my vote.

I’m starting to think about voting straight party for Congress and for the state legis. and doing a write-in for pres. If we have control over the congress, we can survive 4 years of Hussein.

Then come back and spank the dems in 2012.

Highly concur!!! BUT, if McCain should happen to win it this year, then there's no chance for a Cantor/Palin ticket in 2012, UNLESS one of them happens to be McCain's VP and he dies. Otherwise we'll be looking at an incumbent, very old McCain and his perhaps RINO incumbent VP....that 2012 scenario makes me physically ill to think about.

She’s a prima donna

Yes. I said "maverick," because McCain likes the word, but prima donna fits her, too. She loves to make trouble for her friends and allies if it will give her a higher profile. Which I fear might appeal to McCain.

If you have polls showing 29 and 32% of the Jewish vote sewn up, why do you need Cantor... for another 3%? His bio is strongly conservative, but he doesn’t have name recognition. So what if all of Israel votes, their ballots be lost just like Bush’s military overseas ballots were lost in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida etc...

Cantor is great, but he is a risk with the MSM.

Why would he be any more risky with the MSM than any other choice? Whoever is chosen is going to be dissed by the media; it's a fact of life that any nominee would have to accept, and let it roll off his or her back.

Cantor would certainly be a powerful advocate for the War on Terror.
