Lemme guess. That particular service started on or around August 29, 2005.

Nagin can help NO the most by staying in Denver.

"Alluding to Katrina's disastrous aftermath, Jindal said Louisiana is "better prepared than before" and has hundreds of buses and thousands of shelter beds lined up in preparation for another storm"

The Chocolate City naval fleet awaits the inspection of Admiral Nagin after his return from Denver.

The Saturday before Katrina hit(Monday) Nagin was in Baton Rouge at a party. President Bush called him to urge him to evacuate New Orleans. On Sunday he finaly did but did not use the buses to evacuate the 9th Ward. The Head of The Weather Service had called Nagin on Friday urging him to do the same. And Bush gets the blame for the inactions of an incompetent Mayor and Governor.

In the meantime, Landrieu pigs out at the convention in Denver while thinking of other ways of threatening Bush for the storm hitting louisiana.

And as I remember, Pres Bush went on National TV Saturday before, urging the people of NO to evacuate. National Weather hurricain guy begged them to.

Sixteen people from one family flew to TX today already from NO. They are scared, don't want to go through another. Maybe they will leave this time.

“And as I remember, Pres Bush went on National TV Saturday before, urging the people of NO to evacuate. National Weather hurricain guy begged them to.”

I vividly remember hearing Bush say this; It made an impression with me. It was very unusual to hear a President tell citizens to evacuate their city.

And in the weeks/months before Katrina; it seemed the Discovery Channel was airing the segment about the doomsday scenario that New Orleans would face with a Katrina like hurricane.
And that warning that Bush gave, was always in the front of my mind as I heard everyone whine about the “slow response” from the Feds.

I believe Jindal called up Nagin this afternoon and told him to get his sorry ass back to New Orleans pronto and do his job.

Yeah but does he have the agreements with the union to have the DRIVERS on standby too.

“Although we have made strong strides in rebuilding our infrastructure, the levees have not been fully repaired and we have an $800 million budget gap to complete our sewage and water systems,” Mayor Nagin continued. “

Ray, those levies are leaking as I type and it ISN’T EVEN RAINING!

Three years and billions of dollars.

"Ray, those levies are leaking as I type and it ISN’T EVEN RAINING!"

Talk to the Corps, they're the ones who have been working on the levees almost nonstop since Katrina

"The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) completed the repair and restoration of 220 miles of floodwalls and levees in June 2006. The Corps continues to improve the hurricane protection system, and the New Orleans area now has the best flood protection in its history. In April 2008, the Corps awarded its largest design-build contract ever (The Shaw Group), and is currently on track to meet its goal of completing 100-year protection by the year 2011.

No doubt the AEC has been working on these levies with billions of dollars for decades. A fruitless task when you read what they are up against.

Nagin in his first acknowledgment of Gustav made the statement about the unfinished repairs. He's off the hook when NO floods again and again and again.
