Eddie Money is commercial rock. However I think Gimme Some Water could be put into the southern rock mold. In fact Money just recorded a country version of that song with Vince Gill.

Great post....
I love southern rock and in the 70's I was playing in a band that mostly played southern rock....Alman bros. has to be my favorite....The first time I saw them they were the opening act for Leslie West and Mountain...the crowd wouldn't let them off the stage...it was great...I was living on LI,NY at the time which just loved all the southern rock bands...I say the Outlaws, CDB, Marshall Tucker band..(BTW the song "24 hours at a time" live is just great)...
There was a radio station back then commercial free and played all these guys all day long....
