Simple answer.....he's a politician.....that's what they do.

Long answer...he's a politician, he doesn't want to be pictured as a pawn in the McCain campaign.

Remember, the second ballot at the first ever WVGOP Presidential Convention was over before 1PM on Super Tuesday. All afternoon all you heard was that Romney had lost WV to a third tier candidate.
