"Here's the second truth. Killing an unborn child is never the right answer to a woman's or society's problems. Acts of violence create a culture of violence—and abortion is the most intimate form of violence there is. It wounds the woman, it kills the unborn child and it poisons the roots of justice and charity that bind us all into one human family," he said.

In his clarification for church members, he denounced the "spin" among politicians seeking to justify abortion and appease militant pro-abortion interests, including the billion-dollar Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest player in its abortion industry.

"Catholic public leaders inconvenienced by the abortion debate tend to take a hard line in talking about the 'separation of church and state.' But their idea of separation often seems to work one way. In fact, some officials also seem comfortable in the role of theologian. And that warrants some interest, not as a 'political' issue, but as a matter of accuracy and justice," he wrote.

"Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is a gifted public servant of strong convictions and many professional skills. Regrettable, knowledge of Catholic history and teaching does not seem to be one of them," Chaput continued.

Thanks to Queen Botox I, Theologus Minimus, this issue is getting a lot more exposure than I hoped for. The DNC’s big plank is becomming a big problem.

Abortion and the availability of contraception changed the marital act from one which produced children to nothing more than an intimate handshake (if you will). It no longer means anything. Ads tell kids to "wait till you are mature enough to handle sexual intimacy" and that "oral sex" isn't "really" sex. Oh, and always use a condom to prevent disease (and inferred, an 'unwanted' baby).

So the sanctity of the marriage act has been destroyed with nothing replacing it. It's no wonder people say they are attracted to the same gender. Opposite gender intimacy is a farce, a joke. It means nothing since there's no bonding through courtship and marriage. And as long as you're not being intimate to "make a baby" then intimacy with the same gender equates (in the unformed conscience) with opposite gender intimacy. It's all the same.

This is why the Catholic Church, joined with other Christians, must continue advocating the Pro-Life Agenda. For sexual intimacy to "mean" anything, there must be sanctity of human life. And everyone "knows" when life begins, even if he/she lies about it.
