Hillary Goes Out With a Whimper
The Atlantic ^ | August 27, 2008 | Joshua Green

Posted on 08/27/2008 5:17:27 AM PDT by Zakeet

When she first campaigned for a New York Senate seat, Hillary Clinton earned the nickname "The Laundry Lady." Last night's speech was a reminder why. Clinton didn't come close to injecting the shot of energy that the Democratic convention desperately needs, but neither did she do anything to damage Obama's campaign. Instead, she wrapped up her historic candidacy with a whimper—an understated, buzzword-laden speech that held about as much passion as a Wednesday night city council meeting.

Characteristically, Clinton seemed to want to do several things at once, and as a result did none of them especially well. She made the necessary appeal for unity; she took some shots at John McCain; and she thanked—rather perfunctorily and without much feeling, it seemed to me—the many supporters of hers who have caused so much hand-wringing and consternation. But it was hard to come away thinking that anything significant had changed.

Clinton didn't need to match the intensity of Dennis Kucinich, who, earlier in the evening, hopped and screamed like a meth-addled Smurf. And she rose above the rote fare of the state legislator-types who fill the endless daytime hours. But true sentiment toward Obama was hard to detect. Clinton does magnanimity like Robin Williams does understatement: it doesn't come naturally.

[Snip]

The bio film that introduced her pretended to be a mawkish tear-jerker, and then cleverly broke into a Van Halen riff. The crowd was fired up. But the excitement faded quickly. Clinton didn't seem angry or betrayed or entitled or any of the things that critics have attributed to her—she seemed merely unenthused, and so did the audience, his crowd and hers. Two minutes after she left the stage someone could have shouted across the arena and been heard on the other side.

If only it was true and these grifters would fade into the sunset with a whimper. Take all their disgusting trash with them. What an vile embarrassment to this country they have become. If only they had been republicans, the MSMN would have buried them years ago, but instead they keep parading them around, and want us to believe they are actually decent people. This cold, self-centered, disturbed bitch will now work behind the scenes to help McCain win, so she can run again in 2012.

The list is way too long - the scandals, the lies, the sellout for campaign funds, the endless adolescent sexual escapades (which unfortunately includes sexual assaults).

So many of us here, at freerepiblic.com have done the research - read the books, looked at the investigations and studied the history of Bill & Hillary Clinton. It's all there for anyone who takes the time to look, but yet America would rather listen to the spin of the MSM. Millions and millions of people actually thought this ogre was qualified to be President.

I can't quite say when it happened, I think it was maybe the Dateline NBC story on the rape allegation by Juanita Broaddrick, the way the American public simply let it slide by. America didn't seem to care or want to look at the possibility that they had elected a man who was a rapist. America had already decided to let him stay in office a few weeks before the story broke, even though there was a irrefutable proof of his lying under oath, his vile behavior in the oval office and his other disgusting sexual advances against women over they years.

But somewhere along the line I lost faith in the future of America. This was not the country of my parents and their parents. That someone like Bill & Hillary Clinton were not exposed for the frauds they are, were not run out of town on a rail, even today are admired by so many ignorant, lazy and uniformed people... this to me defines America's future.

America is getting exactly what it deserves and it breaks my heart to see it, given the sacrifice so many Americans in previous generations have made. I'm sure the founders of this country expected the country to change, evolve over time, but they never would have expected what we have become.

I bet she got her debt paid off...just for being nice.

YOU may have hit that nail on the head. She did what she had to do (expediency) but without complete enthusiasm.

The question NOW is, which of Barry O's illegal donors gets the nod to pay off her Ten Million Dollar Debt?

As usual, Follow The Money.

[That pantsuit doesn’t do much to flatter her figure]

Oh yeah? Take off that pumpkin pantsuit and see how flattered her figure is without it! :)

She’s a freaking weeble.

Because the Love of God is what we all need, including the Clintons, and nothing else in this world will suffice.

I tried for the longest time to put into words what you've written here. It came to me awhile back when I read CS Lewis's "Mere Christianity".

That all of us have this hunger that can only be fed by Christ. All the money, fame, sex, power etc...... fails to fill the emptiness and we wander all over trying to find the next best thing to fill that "thing" that will finally satisfy us....

It's there for us to grasp. He provides the love that we need and the means to achieve all that will satisfy us. All the worldly stuff is that... just "stuff". It's nice, cause he made nice things for us to enjoy, but we were never meant to use the nice things to feed our souls.

That's why, when I get angry about libs or democrats, I know that they are pathetic and should only get my pity.

Just look at Ted "the swimmer" Kennedy.... all the money, power, women, food and scotch that he could shove into his face and what..... he's a bloated toad of a man that most of his surrounding parasites tolerate rather than love.... cause they are like him, "users".

The same will befall Bill Clinton, and all the other pathetic charlatans.

Later after the convention when Hillary waddles to bed, alone, she can look at herself and just wonder, "now what?".... pathetic.... and "just" in a way.

” I heard the same. I was waiting for her to include Bills name, he campaigned for her. I can only think Hillary needed Bill until she lost and will divorce him soo”

My wife picked this up also.

We both think she was sending the message “ Bill I don’t need you anymore , can’t you see they love me”

Regarding their divorcing, highly unlikely, they can still milk that cash cow of their foundation, and speaking fees.

As Dire Straits would sing “ Money for Nothing”

” The more I watch and read about this convention, the more I’m coming to the conclusion that in their heart of hearts, the Democrat elite know the people have nominated a dud and that they are going to lose big-time to McCain. “

Lets both hope you are right, and do our part to make it happen.

Vote Johnny M

Couple that with the potential of Barry O as president, and its a chilling picture of how far we have regressed.

My Dad landed/ fought on the beaches of Normandy, and saw the immense sacrifice made for freedom. He comments on the reality of this not being the American he and others thought it would be.

I’ve made sure my children listen to him to counterbalance the America Hating, and how bad it is side .

Noticed she didn’t say “as a proud mother and wife”, but perhaps she just isn’t a proud wife.

I thought that was a glaring omission as well! In fact, I don't think she mentioned Bill once, did she? Considering he's her husband AND a past president, you would think he has some kind of relevance.

But I did hear her say she's been fighting for 35 years for her programs, and hasn't she been in office for only a few years or so?

I suppose she'd have to admit that it was Bill who was the elected one all of those years.

She’s a horrible speaker. And who couldn’t help but noticed that she didn’t stop the initial applause. Egad, she let it go on forever before attempting to start her speech.

It was as if I could see in her eyes that the beast was regaining energy from the adulation.

You're probably on the hit list now of "the sisterhood of the traveling pantsuit" gang.

God bless your Dad. I had a great uncle killed in WW, the first born of my grandfather's family, and I'm sure every family in America has had people from past generations who died for our freedom.

I know there are still millions and millions of decent hardworking Americans, but I'm now convinced that the minority of indecent Americans is large enough to ruin the America of our forefathers.

The country seems to be drowning in a tidal wave of apathy, ignorance, and laziness. The voices of reason, the real voices for change in government are left murmuring in the wilderness, ignored and overpowered by the propaganda and the drivel MSM bombards the American public with 24/7.

Perhaps the founding fathers invested too much of the responsibility for government with the people, did not realize how over the decades the people would turn that responsibility over to others, how a system built on the accountability of the people, could morph into a system where the people handed all that responsibility back to others.

That's what has become of America, as we move further and further towards a nanny state.
