The Economic Agenda (of Obama economics adviser Larry Summers)
Harvard Magazine ^ | September/October 2008 | Larry Summers

Almost certainly, now is not the moment for dramatic further price increases in energy, given the situation of the economy and the way in which consumers and many energy-using businesses are reeling. At the same time, with the economy getting used to far higher energy prices than were considered plausible even 18 months ago, it would be a great tragedy if prices were allowed to decline very sharply when the current crisis passes. So the crucial priority will be to maintain the momentum and incentive for savings caused by the current high-priced energy, whatever happens in the future.

The liberals want high energy prices. Summers was Treasury Secretary under Clinton.

Wasn’t he the president of Harvard that had to step down from stating the differential achievement between men and women? He better keep his mouth zipped on the issue of differential achievement between Blacks and Whites. Or even worse: between Black men and White women.

I got to read the whole thing until this gem:

“Each year, the science on global warming becomes more sobering. Each year, our ability to hit the Kyoto or other targets for controlling those emissions recedes.”

In truth each year exposes the “science on global warming” as being a fraud. And if the writer can’t recognize that simple fact by now he’s useless on all his other “reasoned” conclusions.

Actually, he’s right. Each year the science on global warming does become more frightening. That doesn’t make it any more correct, it just means that the alarmists are getting more and more desperate to maintain the facade and funding.

Suppose the majority of elites who read harvard magazine can afford energy at any cost. I never truly realized just how insulated elites are from the average person. Their wants and concerns in many respects seem to be diametrically opposed to the general populace. I will humbly submit that I was not educated in the Ivy League but I can tell you that anything with the intelligence of a sand flee would know what sustained high energy prices will do to this economy.

Coupled with the Democrats’ fanatical opposition to domestic drilling, am I to understand that Mr Summers desires to maintain high oil prices despite the fact that it will force the USA to continue sending billions upon billions of dollars each year to the Mideast, Russia, and Venezuela?

Very interesting... what a well thought out economic plan.

Do not worry comrade! Glorious central planning commission will ensure prosperity for all, and eliminate evil bourgeois consumption.

Ministry of Arts and Concrete will make America beautiful once again!
