I will vote for McCain and be on record as having stood against the complete socialization of America.

As opposed to only the partial socialization of America, when McCain and the Democrats join together to bail out private enterprise (GM, FNM, FRE, and company)?

Socialism for the rich is still Socialism.

“As opposed to only the partial socialization of America, when McCain and the Democrats join together to bail out private enterprise (GM, FNM, FRE, and company)?”

You must think we’re entirely powerless against Congress to have written that. Were you planning to find that perfect candidate, vote that person in and then kick back? How engaged is that? And how different is that for what you want than for the idolators who will bow down to the One as he emerges from his temple tomorrow? It does not differ in the slightest and runs the exact same risk of hubris and potential subjection for you. Whether you will enjoy the resulting durance is a matter of personal taste, but the effect will not be any different and the damage to the American body politic will be equally destructive.

And I also point out to you that what you allege will happen has already happened many times from both sides of the aisle. So if there will be Socialism, then there already is Socialism and then what would be your point? Of course, every vote not for Obama does help, but one for McCain likely counts twice as much as any other because a vote for an also-ran subtracts from the leader on that side of the ledger while not affecting Obama. A vote for McCain has no such reduction.

I recommend you think again.
