This was a 737-200 with the OLD OLD OLD JT8D motors ,, Itek was banned from landing in western europe , presumably for failing to meet safety standards.. This youtube posting fails to mention the contingent of scientists ,, rather it notes that a youth basketball team was on board ... since the crew had time to return to the airport for an attempted landing I think we can rule out a catastrophic failure ... this could have been nearly anything at this time...
I do not think this crash will get the attention it would if the f.a.a. investigated it.
Foreign country and all. F.A.A. investigators would have to be invited in to check it out and I gots a feelin that ain’t gonna happen.
Oh, so it is the little children this time. I figured maybe these scientists were all going to a wedding.
