I just looked at the Logan Airport Arrivals/Departures and see only a few delays.

ATL has a ground stop active for weather, but according to flightstats, the rest of the country looks okay.
Perhaps they already had their flight plans before the system failure.
It is going to be a huge air jam when all the flights back up and the others needs to land.
No diff then when there is a huge pile up on the freeway and very few off ramps.

A little blurb on local radio stated everything is normal at Denver International.
Yeah, they contracted with somebody, Big Blue I think, for a system-side software upgrade, and it became one of the biggest boondoggles in software history. Right up there with the IRS modernization. First, they wouldn’t freeze the feature set long enough to allow anyone to get any work done, then they kept asking for useless or unfeasible features.
Prayers up for everyone who has someone in the air right now.
FAA is assuring us that this is a computer glitch, and that no planes are “lost” to traffic controllers.
I want to believe that.

I wonder if Occam’s Razor doesn’t apply and that there is a glitch in the computer system somewhere..... Very few systems run forever without glitches.
