The article posted mentions that an officer states one of the suspects made a statement the the effect of a possible plot against Obama. The phrasing of the sentence is awkward but it’s in there.
Maybe we’ll learn that this is mistake as early reports often are, but it really is news if a suspect pulled over in a car with rifles blurts out something suspicious re: Obama and the convention.

They probably asked the suspect if he was going to vote for obama and he said “No and I mean hell NO” :)
