Mississippi Senate: Wicker Holds Five-Point Advantage Over Musgrove
Rasmussen Reports ^ | August 24, 2008

Posted on 08/24/2008 11:39:17 AM PDT by Clintonfatigued

There’s little change in the race between appointed U.S. Senator Roger Wicker (R) and former Governor Ronnie Musgrove (D). The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in Mississippi found Wicker attracts 47% of the vote, while Musgrove earns support from 42%. Last month, Wicker had a six-point edge.

When “leaners” are included, Wicker’s lead expands to nine percentage points, 52% to 43%. That’s the same as last month’s total.

I was considering giving to this race but I don’t see any point now.

It’s still a close one and could still tip over, but Wicker appears to be gaining the upper hand.

McCain also leads Obama in MS 56%-43% and has a 63% favorable rating to Obama’s paltry 44%.

As a general rule of thumb, it’s close if the incumbent doesn’t have over 50%.

The problem is that the DSCC can still pour money into this race, but due to Ensign being a fundraising and organizational failure, we can’t.

Looks good but still worth keeping an eye on

As a general rule of thumb, if the GOP senator in Mississippi is worried about reelection the party should be worried.

This month’s American Rifleman says” “Sportsmen and gun owners in Mississippi are the key to his (Wicker’s) election and should give his campaign their full support.”

Good news!

Many of us still remember the ineptitude of Musgrove and how he always thought he was doing a great job. There are more supporters of Wicker, at least down here on the coast, than Musgrove would care to think about. Plus, the ads against Musgrove hit home with actual facts and the ones against Wicker force folks to accept lies and half-truths.

I have a hard time imagining Wicker losing.
