Im not defending Russia as much as staying objective.
Entering a country covertly is an accepted tactic. Remember our Hail Mary route through the desert in Operation Iraqi Freedom? The days of sending a formal declaration with declared invasion routes are long gone.

No soldier took a souvenir? All soldiers are perfectly trained and disciplined? ===
what exactly are you saying?
And please, once again, before making any statements, try to learn some facts! There have never been Russians is South Ossetia present in any significant numbers, may be just under 1% and all left in early 90s.

You can not possibly compare the two as we repeatedly warned Saddam to cooperate with the weapons inspectors or suffer the consequences. Russia plotted this act of treachery and I hardly find your points objective, they are rather along the lines of the lies emanating from Moscow. The following post supports my points as to Russians being no more that common criminals. We did not goad Saddam into attacking us as a pretense to attack nor did we issue American citizenship to Iraqi's in order to “protect” them.

I am not saying the two are comparable, just that it is an accepted tactic of war.

What, giving citizenship to peoples outside your own borders in order to attack that country under the FALSE pretext of protecting your own citizenry?

Not citizenship, ethnicity.
The people of Abkhazia and South Ossetia have not wanted to join Georgia, and not just the ethnic Russians. Russia - and the UN - have had peacekeepers in place for several years. Georgian military mounted an offensive operation to force the dissidents and Russian peacekeepers out.
Russia entered to protect their supporters and peacekeepers. Not all militaries are as cautious as we are when it comes to collateral damage. While Russia was harsh by our standards, Georgia is not innocent and blameless.
