The primary process is to choose delegates who go to the convention and choose who will run. They promise they are committed to a certain candidate.

I understand that the delegates who, during the primaries and pledge to a certain nominee, can change their mind and vote for another person in the convention. Is that correct? Anyway, Obama would not be the nominee if all the news about him had come out before all those first states voted.
