Russians arrest the ambassador of France

Russian militaries detained Erik Fournier, the ambassador of France to Georgia, at one of the checkpoint stationed in Gori. The ambassador was on his back way to Tbilisi from Sachkhere.

Shida Kartli administration reports that Vladimir Vardzelashvili, the Governor of Shida Kartli, is trying to convince the aggressors to release the French Diplomat.

Wow. That French Ambassador must be one courageous person. Risking his life and now they arrest him. Don't think the French will be trying to be diplomatic with the Russians anymore.

The article is a little inconsistent, it reports at the top that the Ambassador has been detained, but later indicates his plans for visits later in the day. I wonder if this was one of those delayed at a checkpoint issues or something more substantial? Any update would be appreciated.
