Do you think Johnson accepted the VP spot because he expected to knock off Kennedy? No, he did it because he wanted to be President in 8 years.
If he was involved in the plot, which I think is entirely possible, he damn well didn't initiate it. Who do you go to to whack the President of the US? Is Hillary going to call the people she used to clean up the Foster murder? That could be a pretty scary phone call to make when you are talking about a President and not an underling, and when you are not the President. Can you imagine being caught? Bill's lies couldn't get her out of that one.
Point being is, I don't think she would accept the VP slot on the notion that she was going to whack the President of the United States, our jokes about food tasters notwithstanding.

I don't think that LBJ was involved, in any way, in the Kennedy assassination. However there is a flaw in your argument: even LBJ was aware that once JFK became President the "heir" was going to be Bobby. Under those circumstances, I'm not really sure why LBJ took the spot on the ticket. He either thought he could defeat Bobby for the nomination in '68, or there was some other motivating factor. LBJ was a very smart and slick politician ... so my guess is that it was more the latter than the former.
