From Jim Geraghty's CampaignSpot blog at National Review:
Soren Dayton, writing over at The Next Right:A very good source is telling me that multiple DNC members have told him that Hillary is the person. While not immediately intuitive, Clinton is the candidate who one can easily imagine helping with Barack Obama's numbers. Which seem to be ... in bad shape? Who else would fundamentally shift the numbers? You could see her bringing Democrats back home, etc., in a way that none of the other candidates could.
By the way, she would probably school most Republican VP candidates in the debates. And she and Bill know how to attack attack attack.
Meanwhile, arriving in my e-mailbox moments ago:
Hillary Clinton will campaign for Senator Barack Obama in Floridas Orange County, Palm Beach County, and Broward County on Thursday, August 21.
In Orange County, Hillary Clinton will meet with officials from the Sheet Metal Workers International Association. Media may cover this event, but it is not open to the public.

Obama could never be an effective president with Hillary around. The Clintons would suck the air out of anything he'd try to do. Picking Hillary as VP would appear the act of desperation it would surely be.
That man is going to have a shelf life shorter than cheese dogs on warm afternoon.
I don’t see how Hillary helps. First it makes Obama look weak and people vote the Presidential candidte not the VP and second, this WOULD energize the conseratives to get out and vote! No?

My gut feeling is still that Hillary! is going to wrangle the nomination from ‘bama based on the fact that he’s inept and tanking in the polls.
One thing no one much talks about in the media....I don’t think Hillary and Bill THINK OBAMA CAN WIN...even with her. I think they are banking on Obama tanking and McCain serving only one term. Heck, I wouldn’t put it past McCain’s campaign to imply that to the Hillary people through backchannels.
I've had that feeling over the past week. If he picks her, then we will be facing ...... BOTH OF THEM!!!!!!!
As if Obama alone wasn't bad enough!
I haven’t slept well in years. Why should you?
BTW, zerObama was going to announce his Veep pick in Ohio.
Now Ohio congress critter Stephanie Tubbs Jones is in the hospital.
Now I’m not saying that even Hillary! can cause a brain aneurisms, but surely her master could...
>>I doubt she wants to be Obamas VP. Maybe Im wrong, but I think she hopes his numbers cause the convention to go her way. If not, she will sit back, open a box of popcorn, and enjoy the debacle, then bide her time til 2012. She knows McCain is an old man.<<
I agree. Whoever wins could find themselves the president of this country during the unfolding of a “great depression” type event complete with activity in Georgia reminiscent of the invasion of Poland in 1939. The incumbant will be severely wounded in 2012 and will probably be McCain.
The democratic nominee will have a great opportunity at that time.
Get rid of both of them in one fell swoop, is more like it.
You misspelled ‘sucker moms’...
Yeah, she is probably the last person he wants but the one he needs the most. The Dem establishment is no doubt getting nervous and pushing for Hillary too. If he picks her, I’d hate to be on his Secret Service detail.
DNC members are not a good enough source. Need sources within the campaign.
I have no incite, but I am thinking that Hillary will be at the convention singing.....”It’s My Party and I’ll Cry if I want to......cry if I want to, cry if I want to......”...yes an earworm of hill singing that is passing through my ears.......and I am singing along with her....LOL
“On a serious note, there will be no doubt Obama is a fool if he picks Hillary “
Should Barky pick Hillary it will be because his internal polling data shows that he can’t win.
Now that the Hope and Change hangover is looming in the near future, and the general voting public have figured out what an empty suit he is, he’ll have to play the game and hope he can hang on. I would be surprised if Hillary went for that though. Why share the power when it’s just as easy to throw the drowning Obama an anchor. Then in 2012 she gets her turn.
Exactly my thoughts..........why wait for 8 years if Obama is elected to get her shot. He will have screwed the country up so bad if he wins that she would not get elected dog catcher after him. If he is elected and serves only 1 term before being kicked out ,she will be tarnished by her association with him.
I think this is another head fake, besides Michelle O hates Hillary, and we KNOW who wears the pantsuits in the Obama household.
He won’t lose as badly with her as running mate. And she will not be blamed for the loss.
Here’s the possible outcomes:
1 Obama wins...and after that, “anything can happen.” If it does, she’s President.
2. Obama loses. Not her fault. They should have listened to her, but she was a good Democrat and did her best to prop him up. On to 2012!
She’d do it.
