Poland needs more than just missile-defence.

They need everything-else defense also.

Well, they are a part of NATO. So if they’re attacked, NATO is obliged to respond.

Though these days, I wonder if NATO has the will.

Part of the hold-up on this agreement was over Polish insistence that the US subsidize Polish military modernization to a much higher level than the US envisioned. The invasion of Georgia kinda woke everybody up to the seriousness of the situation.

They wanted the Patriots because they might work.

The Poles are not dumb. The “Missile Defense” Star Wars Part Deux big money depended on a fantasy of Iranian ICBMs to hit UK or USA with Iranian warheads. The Russians pointed out that Iran had no such weapons, it must “logically” be meant against Russia, but they could easily knock out the radar in Czechia rendering the boondoggle even more worthless.

The Russians know this, their recent temper tantrum is from lack of control, that Poland won’t follow it’s dictates.

The Georgia-thing was fine for Russian domestic consumption (no pun intended). Question is, what domestic issue was Putie trying to distract from?

I really like that we are training Polish F-16 pilots.

That’ll give the Russians something to worry about.

The Poles are not dumb. The “Missile Defense” Star Wars Part Deux big money depended on a fantasy of Iranian ICBMs to hit UK or USA with Iranian warheads.

The Iranian Shahab-3 has a range of 2,000 kilometers & is classed as a "medium-range" ballistic missile. The Shahab-4 is expected to have the characteristics of an "intermediate-range" ballistic missile, if it ever gets built. That would bring most of Europe into range. This week's announcement that Iran was going to launch its first domestically-built satellite may indicate that they have completed the -4.

Nah, he's too highly-visible now. Gotta love it, though - he's practically mooning the Russians.

Yep, the Germans found out during the "Battle of Britain" just how good Polish pilots are.

“The U.S. is obliged to provide security to Poland and any American facilities on its territory,”

This means the agreement goes beyond NATO and that the United States of America would respond with deadly force.
