When I lived in Los Angeles the sound of the police helicopters over my neighborhood every evening got a little annoying, mainly because they made it hard to hear the TV or a conversation on the phone.
Now I live in the sticks, and all I hear is wind and seagulls yacking... much better.

when we were at ft hood, we lived off-post under the approach path for hood army air field. by the time we left my frau could tell the different helicopters by the sound. they weren’t that annoying. what was freaky was the week of no airplane noise when sitting outside after 9/11.
