I gave up on the NBC anchors within the two minutes I watched the opening ceremonies. They were so into giving the Chinese propaganda spin, it was disgusting.

Maybe it’s just the fact that after three days both fish and avuncular TV anchors stink, but the NBC talking heads have gotten on my last olfactory nerve.....

The last Olympics I watched for more than a few minutes was 1992.
I thought it was worth a try to see if things had improved any since then.

Nope. If anything, things are worse.

I may not live long enough to watch another. After spending several hours a night over the last two weeks, I know I have no desire to watch another.

Sports?
Countless hours of "beach volleyball?"
Wall to wall boxing?
Wall to wall soccer?
Wall to wall basketball?
Hours of bicycle racing?

I thought blocking out ESPN would spare me all that BS.

Does anyone even have a clue what the classic Olympic events were? Where are they?

Finally, in the 21st century, the Olympic Committee seems unable, in spite of satellite communications, the internet, and 500 cable channels, to organize events so anyone can find the events of his choice --- without having to watch hours of crap in the off-chance that a worthwhile event might pop up by accident --- totally unpredictably!

R.I.P. Olympics, for Publius6961

This is why I’m glad we boycotted Moscow in 1980, could you imagine the lip service NBC would have given the Soviets then.
