A chip in a card, wouldn’t it be easier just to put it ones right fore arm?

So very true.
I guess I should have used the sarcasm button.
I get the “sherbets” (as my granddaughter says) when I think of how easily people will be fooled.
There are people already developing chips for children just in case they get lost.
These chips have been in animals for years, and they are so small as to be undetectable.

So, these cards are in addition to the regular passport? One carries both for international air travel?

The cards have 64K of storage on board. They contain everything found on a paper passport and room to add biometric data e.g. fingerprints, iris scan. The long term intent is to replace the paper book. My paper version was renewed around 2002, so I won't have to replace it for some time.
