"The city should not believe that the whole cab world is going to thumb their nose at the DNC host committee on this," he said.
Why not? I do! (As does every other real American...)
It isn't very 'green' to have one driver and only one passenger. They really need to load up those cabs with as many smelly people as possible!

i wouldn’t accept vouchers.

the dems are famous for stiffing people on the campaign trail. And they have hurt a lot of small business people - indeed, even put some out of business - with bills not paid.

City Councilman Michael Hancock said some taxi company owners are concerned that their drivers won't accept the vouchers out of fear that the Denver 2008 Host Committee won't reimburse them. The greatest predictor of future behavior is past behavior. The DNC has a history of not paying it's bills.

I recall a few such places with the Clinton campaign just the past year.
It sure is funny to see Democrats screw the people they claim to care about!
To: Libloather
All the Dems have to do is arrange a letter of credit to cover the vouchers. But I suspect they won’t do that, because they’d have to have the funds available (or a good credit line) to back the LoC.

Besides, how's the counterfeit voucher market doing?

If they are not going to stiff the cab drivers then why not give each delegate 40 bucks. Then they could pay cash for their cab fare.
But the Democrats are asking for credit. If I were cab driver I would not take their vouchers. Cab drivers can’t go into a filling station and fill up their cabs tank and pay for it with vouchers.
I would tell the democrats to pay cash or walk.
Why not have the delgates pay the cab drivers and have the driver fill out a recipt form and then reimburse the delegates?
Perhaps democrats do not want to siff their own delegates. Cab drivers are another matter.
To: Common Tator
Because they know that the $40 would be spent on “herbal medicine” and prostitutes.

If they are not going to stiff the cab drivers then why not give each delegate 40 bucks.$40 - UP FRONT? Apparently, you don't understand how this scam works...

all the dems have to do is pay the cab fare then submit the vouchers to the DNC, why inconvenience the cabdrivers with fuel expenses and loss of income until the vouchers are reimbursed if ever.

Yeah...I heard that also. I'm just sayin'....If I was a Denver cabbie...I wouldn't take a voucher from this group...Not with how they have a record of shaftin' over landlords, caterers and other groups they do business with....but that just me.
Let chaos reign...heh heh heh.
