RNC: McCain Won't Choose Abortion Supporting Running Mate Fox News ^ | August 19, 2008 | Carl Cameron

As speculation grows around who John McCain will select as his vice presidential running mate next week, Republican National Committee officials said Tuesday that McCain is no longer considering former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge.
Several sources at the RNC told FOX News that in the last 36 hours, senior McCain advisers and aides have told RNC officials that McCain got the message last week that choosing a running mate who supports abortion rights would not be helpful.

You got it!
It’s a way for vets to say: “I served, too!”
We need to give our vets everything they deserve, and they deserve to be allowed to salute (formally) the flag under which they served.

I heard about that as well, and....
Much as I appreciate the compliment, I’m just Old School enough that if I’m not actually in uniform, I can’t bring myself to act as though I am.
My real salute has been going on inside my head no matter if I’m saluting or I have my hand over my heart, anyway.

interesting that Eric Cantor has fallen off the radar ... Intrade has Romney at 32% and Pawlenty at 30%. Palin is at 12% ...

I quite like what I’ve read about Sarah Palin, I don’t have a problem with her. I just wish she were better known to the public. There isn’t much time to “introduce” her to the country, but I’m sure they’ll try.

Our little town has a yearly 3 day celebration that ends with . . wait for it . . a RODEO! lol if my high school friends could see me now. I actually like watching! Those bull riders are insane. Anyway, they always end with a spectacular fireworks display, and this year they honored the veterans, starting with those from WWII through some who happened to be home on leave from Iraq. I am such a baby, I just sat there and cried while everyone was oohing and aahing.

I think a lot of these guys just don’t care.

Pretty interesting, if true. If he doesn’t pick Jindal or Romney, I’d support him if he picks Palin. bttt
