With the exception of Cheney, name the last good vice president we've had.

You could make an argument for Richard M. Nixon -- though that would be a controversial choice.

You'd probably get close to unanimous agreement on Harry S Truman, though.

Just thought I would scoop the scoopers. Looks fairly conclusive.

Not to all the sites saying that Biden has the lock on Veep.

Well he is known for his outspokenness, flash back to Feb. 7th of last year (can you believe the campaign has gone on this long?):

[From Xuan Thai and Ted Barrett
CNN Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Sen. Joe Biden planned to spend Wednesday focusing on his official announcement that he was running for president, but the Delaware Democrat instead found himself defending remarks he made to the New York Observer about his Democratic opponents.

In the article published Wednesday, Biden is quoted evaluating presidential rivals Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-New York, former Sen. John Edwards, D-North Carolina, and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois. His remarks about Obama, the only African-American serving in the Senate, drew the most scrutiny.

“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said. “I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” ]

No scoop on DU, just speculation and a report that she was on the short list. Do you have a link?

She may be the VP, but that article is stretching a bit by making the conclusion based on the private registration... since it has been private for over 7 months.

If she is chosen it could be her love for abortion that gets her the job. Biden has voted in favor of banning partial birth abortion, so I figured he might be vetoed by the NARAL crowd.

Sebelius will not even bring in KS for Obama. She’ll be about as effective as Ferraro was. And the Clinton supporters will be really teed off. So this might be an unwise choice for Obama. Yay.

Biden would be great to run against. He is always putting his foot in his mouth. Here is another Biden great.

This is a brilliant move. Obama will now lose Kansas by only 22 points instead of the expected 24.

Obama knows that Biden is an attention hog, and will be campaign trouble.

Biden is a ho-hum choice, Obama is losing momentum and needs some fresh buzz.

A Biden choice would be torn apart by McCain.

It is critical for Obama to present a clear difference with McCain, Biden wrecks that.

No, Biden for Secretary of State, that's all. Makes no campaign sense to do anything else.

My bottom line is this: Barring a big surprise or last-minute change of heart, the choice is likely to be Sen. Joe Biden of Deleware, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee.

I do not understand how Biden is considered a serious contender or how the Obama campaign's vetting method could be so lame as to allow his selection. If Thomas Eagleton was disqualified from the Vice Presidency by his past electroshock treatments, wouldn't Biden's brain surgery have the same effect? And what about Biden's plagiarism or his inability to control his mouth? And why would someone near the top of their class at Harvard Law School want to choose a running mate who impressed his law school professors with his lack of intelligence?

I thought I heard that on his latest fundraising trip to Kansas he avoided Kathleen Sebelius.

She is radioactive at the moment, because someone snuck a camera into her party for Killer Tiller at the governor’s mansion.

Tiller the worst late-term abortionist in the country. And Obama is desperately trying to avoid the subject of abortion, because NARAL to the contrary, it is a political loser.

I just got a very strong letter from Randall Terry, warning any Christians who vote for Obama that they are, in effect, voting for baby-killing in God’s name. Also, something about millstones.

Obama is already to the left of NARAL on abortion. He certainly doesn’t need the kind of freight that would be brought on board by Kathleen Sebelius.
