Because 27% of women with graduate or professional degrees are childless, I will be less likely to encourage my daughter than my sons to pursue education beyond college or be career-oriented. The decisions will be theirs, of course.

I think it is more about timing. Pursue the degrees after you have started a family. Having children is for the young. It's hard work.

BTW, I've been advising my sons that it is much smarter not to pursue career women. Life is much more fulfilling with a family.

It’s pretty hard to find a “non-career” woman with above average intelligence today. People consider it almost a sin for a girl to be family orientated. At least here in the PRNYC.

Most men don’t want to marry young and women don’t want to wait for them.
