I have taught in rural Ak schools where we kept a rifle behind the locked door to school office; teachers had the key. Reason was bear strolled through village; had a habit of looking the kids over on playground.

I don't think many teachers want to be play law enforcement, or they would have entered a much more lucrative profession. America has to do a better job raising their kids; parents need to be held accountable for their failures.

My father-in-law taught in Alaska. Carried a .44 for bears on the playground.
