Rev. Rick Warren strongly denied rumors GOP presidential candidate John McCain had cheated at a political forum he hosted at his church Saturday evening.
That's absolutely a lie, absolutely a lie, Warren said in an interview with BeliefNet. That room was totally free, with no monitors--a flat out lie.
itchell said on Meet the Press Sunday, The Obama people must feel that he didn't do quite as well as they might have wanted to in that context, because that -- what they're putting out privately is that McCain may not have been in the cone of silence and may have had some ability to overhear what the questions were to Obama.
He seemed so well prepared, she added.
The McCain campaign pushed back hard against MSNBC for perpetuating the rumor Monday morning. McCain Campaign Manager Rick Davis sent a letter to the NBC News President Steve Capus that said, "Instead of examining the Obama campaign's spin for truth before reporting it to more than 3 million NBC News viewers, Andrea Mitchell simply passed along Obama campaign conspiracy theories.
Davis also requested a meeting with you as soon as possible to discuss our deep concerns about the news standards and level of objectivity at NBC.
Another case of liberal projection.
Let the liberals whine. America is getting tired of:
“the election was stolen”
“Bush lied”
“Karl Rove did it”
“McCain cheated”
They started that campaign yesterday I see. If the drive-by media had even bothered to call Rick Warren's church to find out what really happened instead of glomming onto kook fringe left wing blogosphere bullcrap, it wouldn't have come to this.
In the old days, NBC, CBS, and ABC enjoyed complete hegemony over what we heard and saw. Those days are over but old habits die hard.
NBC and their sponsors should know better. Andrea Mitchell should be put out to pasture along with all the rest of the Old Guard Leftists.
But you can bet McCain isn’t going to get an apology from a bunch of Obama sycophants.
Well good for Warren to flat-out call the Democrats by their name: LIARS.
No pasture would have that old bag...
Please don’t flame me, but in playing Devil’s Advocate, it does change things slightly that he wasn’t in his Cone of Silence. Being in a limo on the way, it entirely possible that he had the questions fed to him.
Just a possibility. I don’t think it matters either way, but just sayin.
Any network that does commentary after an event and tells exactly opposite of what happens, or peddled some outrageous bullcrap that McCain sounded tense confused and Obama looked confident, deserves to get a boycott. That goes for thoe lot of journalism flunkies at FOX too.
This would be like me (shoots from 85-100) playing Tiger Woods and after loosing I start claiming he cheated. Ooooh Yeah - right. If only Tifer hadn't cheated I could have beat him.
Next time it will be McCain got lucky.
Funny that you just joined up on FR recently. He had the secret service with him in the limo. Maybe they are lying and covering up for McCain too, yes? So, the SS is lying for McCain, McCain is lying himself, Warren is lying, the people in the room with McCain at the church were all lying, why everyone is lying except the Obama campaign that started the smear, yes? I think you are trying to perpetuate the lie yourself. Methinks I smell a rat.
Obama had three questions fed to him in advance and he still sounded dull, flat, hollow, boring and empty.
meanwhile, at the DUmp, they’re convinced Warren is lying to protect McCain..

Warren referenced a “cone of silence” for McCain during Obama’s interview.
Ross said the mentions came “with a chuckle” and were intended to reflect the basic agreement that McCain would not listen to Obama answering his questions.
“He said that metaphorically,” Ross said. “There was no whirring glass bubble like Maxwell Smart or something like that. He was speaking to the integrity of the arrangement.”
Ross said a Saddleback employee disconnected the live feed from the television in the green room, where McCain stayed during most of Obama’s interview.
“He literally disabled it. Even if someone tried to turn it on, it wouldn't work,” Ross said. He added that he was given assurances by McCain's campaign that the senator from Arizona had not listened to the radio during the drive to the church in Lake Forest, Calif., while Obama was beginning his interview.
There’s absolutely no excuse for defending Obama’s disasterous performance by calling McCain a cheater.
That’s absolutely a possibility, but I think the whole question of whether he had the questions or not misses the point. Obama’s answers were designed to mask his true intentions. The reason he lost was because he came off as disengenuous and not forthcoming about what he believes.
“The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one’s real and one’s declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink.”
- George Orwell
Obama’s failure at Saddleback is about Obama. His defenders are trying to make it about McCain.
Rick Warren had someone accompany McCain all the time in the car and room. He couldn't have heard anything.
