We don’t have pets. We used to have a golden retriever. My son was allergic to him so we found him a good home. Now I don’t have the messes to clean nor do I have to spend money on an animal that I’d rather spend on my kids. Not everyone loves animals. Our home is a much happier one without the dog. Yes, I realize I am in a very tiny minority here!! It’s kind of like having grandkids. I love my friends’ pets but I get to leave them and go home. Best of both worlds. :0)

I have eight cats and two dogs. Still trying to give away 16-year old nephew. (Just kidding!)

You have company here.

I was raised with no pets for the same reasons you do it now. I have enough to do without cleaning up dog poop, dog vomit, dog fur, dog food, and walking it in all kinds of horrible weather.

My s-i-l visited for overnight with her little yappy 5 pound furball. It was up at night, barked at everything, and jumped on furniture. Even though she tried (it’s still young) that’s just too much constant activity for me.

That cured me for sure.
