Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency (FULL TRANSCRIPT of Obama and McCain interviews)
Rick Warren News ^ | Aug. 17, 2008 | Rick Warren, Barack Obama, John McCain

Posted on 08/17/2008 4:31:11 PM PDT by FocusNexus

The two-hour event, attended by nearly 5,000 church members in the main auditorium and remote overflow venues, began with Warren posing questions first to Sen. Obama, as determined by a coin toss, after which the two candidates met on stage and embraced in one of their last appearances prior to their respective conventions. The second half of the program featured the same questions directed to Sen. McCain by Warren, who stressed that the candidate had been placed "under a cone of silence" prior to his turn on stage.

Warren organized his thoughtful, yet hard-hitting line of inquiry into four categories, including Stewardship, Leadership, Worldview and America's Role in the World. The questions covered a wide range of topics, ranging from the candidates' values, vision and virtues as applied to many of the critical issues of interest to the faith community and general public, including a discussion on abortion, traditional marriage, stem cell research, education, religious persecution, world orphans, the theory of evil in the world, and their vision for the future of America - at home and abroad.

“obama is ...nuanced."

Liberals keep using that word...I don't think it means what they think it means.

Yes Obama was and is pathetic. I watched the entire event. My wife woke up and saw the entire McCain interview. She was in agreement with McCain. After, we switched to FOX. This leftist looney tunes for Obama started her speil about how can we defeat evil? I about puked. In fact, I was nauseated and in bed all day from one minute or less of this witch. I turned Fox off. I had seen all the news I needed earlier. I am so damn sick and tired of the news, and; I even get ill with the glass is half empty business/ financial experts. We do not need the news telling us what we just heard. These clowns all took the same journalism courses. They all think they know more then you do. What a sad lot they are with few exceptions.

“Nuanced” means unwilling to give a straight answer, trying to hide his real convictions, trying to play both sides of the street, etc.

He was also “nuanced” when he tried to answer the question about evil.

“My favorite Obama idiocy was the statement that he was cutting taxes on 97% of the population and raising taxes modestly on the other 3%.

What a complete liar and scumbag! He plans to raise taxes on over 50% of the population by a gigantic amount!!!!”

I also found his calling a family earning $150,000 a year Middle Class.

I think that figure probably is top quartile of all wage earners in the US.

Hardly middle class ?

Appreciate anyone verifying my observation

Actual Transcript on the $150,000 comment by Obama:

IF YOU ARE MAKING $150 THOUSAND A YEAR OR LESS AS A FAMILY,
THEN ARE YOU MIDDLE CLASS OR YOU MAY BE POOR. BUT $150 DOWN, YOU ARE BASICALLY MIDDLE CLASS. OBVIOUSLY IT DEPENDS ON REGION WHERE YOU ARE LIVING.

Dear Lumper20,

“This leftist looney tunes for Obama started her spiel about how can we defeat evil? I about puked. In fact, I was nauseated and in bed all day from one minute or less of this witch.”

You’ve said a mouthful without mincing your words. Much appreciated!

“Humility” is a word I now wish to wipe from my vocabulary because of the O-blah-ha-ba-ma abuse of it. I’m sure it won’t be the last before this election has ended.

Indeed, it’s sickening to realise that the people feeding info to the public cannot do it without bias. Real, true news is long gone but for the Internet and everyday folk stating the FACTS and poking the proverbial finger in the eye of the MSM.

Strange sensation perhaps on my part, but I am firmly convinced that the good people WILL win this war now being waged against America seemingly from every corner but worse from within, against God Our Father, against family, freedom and the values this great Country of ours was founded upon.

May God be with us all. May He enlighten and open the eyes of those blinded by hypocrisy, corruption and abuse of office.

And if’n they don’t feel a “tingle” in their soul to change after He’s opened their eyes, may He take pity upon their souls in the next life whilst judging their so many efforts to break apart every good thing about this great country of ours which I’m convinced HE granted us to do well with.

My Best Regards to You and Yours,

Birmingham Rain

P.S. Pepto Bismol.

“We heard it.”

“We saw it.”

“We experienced it.”

“It belongs to us.”

You know, Jo, your words could bring a person to tears. Well said, my dear, and ‘tis now stuck in my brain forever.

As always, my best to you.

Actually went ahead and listened to the forum. My takeaway is he came across overall positive. Other observations:

(1) Pro-life (check), Anti-tax (check)Homage to Reagan (check), Pro-Drilling (check)(2) On the other hand, he still embraced the envirowhackos on global warming, and said absolutely nothing to counter his stance on the illegal Mexican problem.

I came out with a slightly less negative view of him. Realize in the last two weeks he has called Pelosi a hero, and has given the possibility of naming a Lieberman VP ,(or other unacceptable RINO).

I don't know if you live on a border state, but many of us view the illegal alien issues as the most important one. In Texas we are literally getting overrun with them, and what is worse is they are getting more and more brazen and millitant as time passes. That is issue No. 1 from me, and McCain is no different in his opponent.

Bottom line, I think it will take naming a very strong conservative VP for me to consider voting for him. Till then, I will either not pull the presidental lever, and focus locally, or support the most conservative 3rd party candidate.

Regards,

CF1957

He was also “nuanced” when he tried to answer the question about evil.

He made it sound as if evil is filled with compassion and humility and can be negotiated and made peace with.

It goes back to his answer at a debate last year when asked what he would do with this countries enemies. He clearly said he wanted to have an "open dialogue with countries", that want to convert us to their evil way of thinking or if we resist, they want to destroy us completely.

Obama is a forty-something, jug-eared, incomprehensible buffoon.

Even after Obama’s performance in “Saddlesore” on Saturday night, I think it’s fair to say that the democrats can color (colour) him gone. However, I don’t think they have that one in their big box of Crayolas!
