It all depends whether the republicans, want to do something about oil prices are if they just want an issue. So far I think that they are just after an issue.

The MSM will see to it that Pelosi gets all the play and the House Republicans are relegated to the shadows. As an entity “Congress” is owned by the enviro lobby. It will be up to a president to someday invoke national security and just start drilling domestic oil, offshore, ANWR, shale, etc. Expecting Congress to do this is like expecting them to bring abortion to an up or down vote or passing an outright declaration of war. Congress is where bold ideas go to die.

The House Republicans are doing a pretty good job this month, but the Gang of Pu$$ies in the Senate are working to ensure a filibuster-proof Senate and veto-proof House for the Democrats, and Obama taking the oath. They must really pine for the days of President LBJ, 200 seat minorities, and our country going to hell in a handbasket because Republicans were too effeminate and cowardly to take a stand.

............I wouldn’t be surprised to see a “windfall profits tax” attached to Pelosi’s bill.............

I do not understand why the oil companies haven’t countered the windfall profits issue!

Here’s the 2007 ExxonMobil profit breakdown for 2007

Profit by area: $Bil:.........US...........Non-US
Upstream (drilling).........2,212.........13,512
Downstream(Refine.mkt.).1,128........2,175
Chemicals.........................360...........1,422
Other..............................44..............0
.
Total ........................3,744 .........17,109

So here’s a US company that earned 18% of its income in the US, and Pee-lousy wants to attack all of its earnings, US and world??

What a stupid move. Exxon could move it’s headquarters to say, France, and lift its middle finger to Pee-lousy and all the other stupid idiots in Washington!
