I watched Hussein give the "above my pay grade" remark. It seemed he wanted to crack a joke but thankfully Pastor Warren and the audience were not buying it. I still was disturbed by the amount of applause Hussein got at all.

How any "evangelical" can even consider voting for any liberal is beyond my comprehension. I sincerely hope that all the pundits who say that vote is up for grabs this year are proved wrong this year.

Polls show that a majority of "evangelicals" think Jesus was wrong when he said "I am the way and the truth and the light. No one comes to the father but thru me." I don't know if that is ignorance or willful blindness. But just because you call yourself an evangelical doesn't mean you adhere to or even believe even very fundamental Christian doctrine.

Seems to me that a lot of evangelical churches have gotten more and more to be happy-time churches that deemphasize the difficult parts of Christian theology. So I suspect we will see more and more of this.

the good works bunch...the ones who are a big chunk of Warren's followers.

as a Southern Baptist, I warned ignorant (proper use not demeaning) freepers that Evangelical did not mean conservative going back to Harriet Meirs and later Mike Huckabee.

lotsa Catholics, Jews, and Piscerpalians think Evangelical means hard right culture warrior like me...not true...some are the kumbaya variety..like PCUSA or UCC

Evangelical in plainspeak means emphasis on born again and prosyletizing...

I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the press is always saying we’re up for grabs, because the press views evangelicals through the “What’s Wrong With Kansas” lens and figure the followers of Jesus should be eager to push aside the issue of murdered children in order to get a few people health care or government cheese or whatever the latest lib is offering. They also seem to think that we’re so dumb and so fixated on religion in politics that we’re going to look at John “I believe but don’t proclaim it from the stump” McCain and reject him in favor of Barack “I’m a heck of a Christian, just ask me and Jeremiah Wright” Obama.

My liberal daughter, wrote me and stated that she thought Warren was in the tank for Obama!

We did feel like he favored Obama over McCain.

By the way, my liberal daughter is one of the Hillary gals who is voting for McCain. One good thing that came out of this election, is that said daughter started watching FOXNEWS, during the primaries, because they were fair to Hillary, while the other news media clearly favored Obama. She now finds herself agreeing with many conservative thoughts. I believe she will one day be a convert. She at least has seen that the Dems are liars and propagandists.
