Additionally, she was not indirectly defending any BC on file with the state of Hawaii. She conspicuously left that point of debate centered on what Obama, himself, posted on his own campaign website. What she called ridiculous was the challenge to the alleged fake document, not what is on file.
If you were in her position, and you knew the BC was false, would you label concerns about it ridiculous? Or would you stick strictly to the law and maintain you are not authorized to comment on its authenticity and let the legal process take its course?
After what she said, if the BC were to turn out to be false, she and the State of Hawaii would be guilty of aiding and abetting the fraud.
If it was not fraudulent, and, she had 1st hand knowledge of this, she could have done a hell of a lot better than she did to at least imply she had a grasp of the cold, hard, facts.
But she did not. She simply commented on the fake COLB issue on Obama’s site at face value.
Additionally, can you imagine the firestorm that would ignite around her as an individual if she said “No Comment” to the press?
Her life would instantly become impossible. I would not blame her one bit if she took the easy way out of this by keeping herself from being stalked by reporters, trying to extract further words from her mouth.
I would fully expect that she, and her boss, would prefer that this be worked out at the proper levels. She is in no position to be making any direct comments regarding the actual BC, which she did not provide any direct insight into.
