Please show me from a past political campaign where a leading contender “springs the trap” on a very controversial story that is brewing under the radar, in such a way, that it scores points for him/herself.

Let me turn it around. If you were running the Dem campaign this year what would you do? How do you counter what went on in 2004. You can already see they are using a much different strategy to deal with Corsi. Give them credit for learning something.

Maybe the BC is a forgery and they are idiots. I think that's what people here want to believe. I think we need a lot more skepticism. If it's too good to be true, it probably is.

The only thing I want to see is an authentic image of his original Birth Certificate on file - no different than McCain provided, over a comparatively petty claim by Obama supporters.

Obama can provide a 400 page rebuttal to Corsi’s book for all I care. Unless an independent source that can be trusted to be objective comes out with a rebuttal, there will not be a rebuttal in the eyes of the American voter.

I would have put his real birth certificate on his "fight the smears website" and ended the story and further speculation.

How do you counter what went on in 2004.

If the facts are not on your side you do what they are doing now and not answer the charges and slime the messenger. But in the long run that isn't an effective strategy since the issues are still out there.
