In what election has the choice of a VP ever made any difference at all? I would bet that even among strong conservatives if you ask them who was Reagan’s VP in 1980 many wouldn’t know, ditto Fords VP or Nixon’s.

People just don’t vote for the VP.

They vote for VP if they’re voting by identity politics—and it’s their identity in the veep spot.

This one. I might be able to suppress my gag reflex long enough to pull the McCain lever if he has a Solid conservative in the VP slot.

I appreciate the reply and think that is a very valid point.
However, this election is unlike any other. First, someone will be elected to the Oval Office from the Senate for the first time since when, the 60’s?(Nixon,LBJ,JFK) In addition, I can’t ever remember a party nomination where the “Super-Delegate” was so prevalent or actually tipped the scales. I am in my 30’s, and speaking historically of course.
Simply put, this ‘Rat primary has generated more inner-party animosity than one could ever have hoped for and I only Hope it lasts.
