He makes an interesting argument. I happen to agree with him to an extent about Iraq not being the right war, but then he throws his support to Obama, and that is something I could NEVER do.

What I like about this article though is that it shows that one can be against the war, but believe that we are making progress in Iraq (the surge worked).

Except that Fukuyama was for the war before he was agin it.. He's a typical "pundit" ; he is in love with the sound of his own typewriter.

Well that was a hoot - as if Obama has anything planned ahead for his proposed acquisition of the White House at all!

It will take years to sort out the lies from the reality of what this Novice has planned (if anything), for our future.

Internationally - he is words only - no substance.

Pretender to the throne!!

“I happen to agree with him to an extent about Iraq not being the right war...”

Saddam had WMD, he used it, he didn’t account for its destruction as required by 17 UN resolutions and the Gulf War ceasefire. If W did nothing about him, would Saddam be a WMD threat. Of course he would.

Fukyama is never right about anything. He has no credibility.

Not enforcing the terms of the ceasefire was a worldwide foreign affairs and national security disaster, and by early 1995 not enacting regime change became inexcusable.

You can only argue that it wasn't the right war if you forget what was happening throughout the Middle-east, swaths of Asia, and northern and eastern Africa.

What happened with Libya alone made the Iraq re-engagement worth it several times over...though I would also contend things in Iraq would have been much cheaper if we didn't have a major party rooting for our defeat and otherwise encouraging our enemies to stay in it until they can get in power.
