To: American Quilter

I buy..$55/load. Fellow has an F150 and he stacks it in the bed so the loads are good. He also helps me stack it in the shed and a garage stall. I’ve gotta pick up some chestnut and walnut from a neighbor once the temps. drop. That’s already cut to length but I will split it myself.

That sounds like an excellent deal. Hard wood out here is becoming prohibitively expensive, up to $550/cord for oak. I can cut ponderosa pine in my neighborhood for free (not counting chain saw maintenance), but it's too time- and labor-intensive for me. I also hate cleaning up the soot that gets everywhere

I'm going to stick with propane this winter, and use as little as possible. Picture me in the recliner wearing 12 layers, with a cat on my lap and a quilt over us both.
