The Edwards Affair: Elizabeth's 'Excruciating Anguish'

Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards stunned the nation with his televised confession Aug. 8 that he had an extramarital affair. Battling cancer that her doctors call incurable, his wife, Elizabeth, issued a statement in support of her husband – but how is she really doing?

While she's never said so, she must have used donor eggs. That means that although she carried the babies, some other woman supplied the eggs that were combined with John's sperm. So he's the biological father, but she's not the biological mother.

I blame Rielle Hunter also. She thought nothing of having an affair with a married man with a sick wife. She had no problem hurting his family. She even went so far as to say nasty things about Elizabeth. If Edwards had won we might have had her emerge as First Lady. Yuck!!

That’s a terrible thing to say! Just because Silky Pony drug them out in front of cameras at every opportunity does not meant that was the ONLY reason they were conceived. And Just because Liz enabled and perpetuated the lie that was her husband upon the American people so he could become president (and she could be first lady — at leas for awhile) does not mean she is a bad person with no self interests. Actually, wouldn’t a divorce be just the thing for Elizabeth to do to challenge Silky’s fitness as a guardian for the children after she’s gone? I think the kids would be much better off with Liz’s siblings ... with lavish support from the rich daddy, of course.
