Atlas shrugged.
It’s time for successful, legitimate business to move out of California.
In this case Atlas isn’t shrugging. It’s caving in.
They’re moving incrementally, step by step. Liberals understand the advantages of incrementalism. Many conservatives, to their peril, don’t. They prefer the all-or-nothing approach which frequently results in them getting nothing.
don’t shop there don’t hire them. enough said
if the city doesn’t want to take responsibility for the workers, then home depot should accept liability for them.
I’m retired. I used to work for a very large company. It had put up with so much government interference that it made a strategic decision to stop locating plants and warehouses in several states. It eventually closed most all of its plants in Kalifornia although it realistically had to keep warehouses there.
Continual governmental interference? Eventually Atlas will shrug!
What, no TV's, DVD players, or beer fridge??? That's outrageous.
Understood. People may have protested. No one ever said doing the right thing was easy, though. Home Depot has done the wrong thing. Now they will pay for it.
then leave them alone, now the day laborers have rights
Yes. Which they could have avoided if they had done the right thing. Maybe there would have been protests, maybe not.
In either case, Home Depot, et al, would be in a position to be able to say that they took steps to keep illegal day workers off their property. As it is, they did nothing, and in fact they benefited from the illegals being there (people who came to find day laborers would shop there). Now they don't want to be responsible.
right to someone elses property, money
I agree that "two wrongs don't make a right", but it was foreseeable.
reminds me of real estate law, if you own land, and allow people to use your land as a passage for so many years and dont do anything, it becomes their right of way even though its your property
Excellent analogy.

Is this was Rome felt like when it was falling?
Wait until May 5th.
As this move by the LA City Council has been on the books for a vote for awhile now, and it was published in the news media, obviously there has been time for such “BIG BOX” Corporations to protest, or have input towards that pending vote.
It’s apparent by the article that the input was not negative of nature, or perhaps collusive with Political desires of the Council. Regardless the Council voted for what can only be deemed as legitimization of sanctuary for illegal aliens. That IMO means Los Angeles is now a Sanctuary City.
Federal agents need to arrest the LA city council since this action violates federal law. Aiding and abetting illegal aliens is against the law.
For crying out loud!I live in Hollywood and just getting from the parking lot to the ACTUAL ENTRANCE on the Home Depot on Sunset, I felt like Jason from the Argonauts fighting my way through zombies. There’s too many of them.
The funny part? OSH hardware which is as big as Home Depot across the street is practically empty of them at the parking lots.
What ticks me off is that Bernie Parks, a former Chief of the LAPD, is black. Why is he backing a motion that will ensure that ILLEGAL ALIENS get to work, instead of his own black constituency? He going to be hurting if they ever get to hear about it. I did say “IF”.

I agree, I live about 10 mins away and use OSH rather than use that store across the street. I support OSH and Lowes in Burbank rather than that store.
